Why choose us?
Well, this is an excellent question.First, let me say that Mill House is neither an hotel, nor a guest house. It is my HOME, and it comes under the general heading of Bed and Breakfast. This may now be an old fashioned concept, but in the original sense it means that I welcome guests into my house, give them a comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast, and send them on their way, well fed and rested, I hope.
Is my house a museum? Not exactly! but it does contain many paintings, pictures and photographs, which are of great interest, and in some cases, sentimental value, to me. My furniture is unashamedly ‘ brown’ , but I do have a few sticks of IKEA on show.
My plumbing is fully modernised, and I have solar thermal and solar electricity. My Aga is upgraded from oil to electric, and I spent a vast amount of money on a complete rewire post COVID. All my bedrooms have USB ports, and the whole house is hard wired for Wi-Fi. The house is also fully in compliance with all Fire Regulations, security systems, and has CCTV. These facts are appreciated by most of my guests, for which I am grateful.
My location is good. I am close to Stonehenge, and many other places of interest, and I am in a quiet village just off the A303, half way between London and Exeter. As a bonus, the village has an excellent pub.
Am I value for money? I do charge a little more than some, but what you see is what you get. This is not a SPA, and I do not have hot tubs, or vast TVs. Or even SKY. If you think my price exorbitant I would rather you didn’t come, than come and be disappointed. I can only say that I do my best, and take great pleasure in welcoming some wonderful guests.
